FAQ

Who sets the prices, and how quickly can you deliver?

PRICE NEUTRAL

Pricing on the Exchange is set by the selling producer who fabricates and/or distributes the material(s) in question. If a purchase is agreed at the selling price, this value in full is paid in full to the selling producer. Unlike other B2B platforms, who often make money taking a 10-20% margin on price from the selling producer, and /or charge the buyer, INSCX charges a flat 1-3% fee for any purchase agreed, and permits buyers and sellers to negotiate and agree the trade price. We are therefore neutral on price as all formal exchanges are. Practices such as "double-dipping" charging both buyer and seller a % or adjusting prices to take a charge from both seller and buyer are not permitted on INSCX.

DELIVERY

For items in stock, standard delivery time is 5 working days. Typically for an item not in stock (which has to be bespoke fabricated) delivery time is typically 7-14 working days. On confirming your purchase our sales team will confirm the anticipated lead time to delivery for your order.

What freight companies do you use? Can you ship ‘freight collect’?

We use FedEx or DHL for air freight and internationally recognised shipping agents where appropriate volumes dictate. No, we do not offer a freight collect service. All logistics are handled by the Exchange.

Are there any other costs?

No, ALL costs are Included in your invoice generated at the point of sale. These are itemised and include product costs, relevant taxes, duties, freight, Nanomaterials SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) fees & Handling costs.

Can you draw up a quote / proforma invoice for me?

Yes. Our sales team can provide an official quotes or pro-forma invoice on request. Again use the contact link to specify or contact a member of the sales team via phone during UK business hours. Please provide relevant details such product, stock number, billing address, shipping address, e-mail address, contact person and phone number. We cannot create an accurate quote/pro-forma without this information.

Do you accept purchase orders?

We do accept Purchase Orders. However, we can only offer payment terms such as Net 30 days from customers that have a credit history with us, or we have been able to credit reference. You can send Purchase Orders to us  via the contact link on the site. NOTE: For all Purchase Orders make sure the purchase order is issued on your company/institution letterhead, lists the product stock numbers clearly  and has an authorized signature on it. Also, you must specify the billing address, shipping address, contact person, e-mail address, phone number and shipping method. For international orders: please do not submit Purchase Orders written in languages other than English.

How can I pay for my order?

Payment is collected at point of sale. We accept all major credit cards for online orders and there is an option to pay by wire transfer online also.

Do we offer discounts?

No, we do not offer a discount for research orders. On bulk orders these are priced individually on request where we can consider a reasonable price target.

Can you custom-manufacture a product for me?

If there is a nanomaterial that we do not have in stock, then yes, it is generally possible for us to get it produced for you. Where a custom has a specific requirement, in many cases we can instruct a custom manufacturing run to produce it. However, this approach is typically only suitable where the parameters of a material can be altered quickly, or for our industrial customers, since it usually requires (a) a minimum order quantity, (b) overhead costs, and (c) a longer lead time. If interested, please contact sales with details of what you are looking for.

If a material is currently in stock, can you ‘reserve’ it for me?

Not in all cases. Our materials are sold with priority given to customers whose payment we receive first, and whose delivery instructions we receive first. Thus, if payment delays or shipping-communication delays are preventing us from completing your order, another customer may get priority.

What is a SHE levy?

SHE stands for Safety,  Health and Environment and is a code of practice devised by the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) pertaining to best practice in the fabrication, supply and handling of engineered nanomaterials, objects and devices. All materials sourced through the Exchange are from producers that adhere to this code of practice. A 1% fee is therefore charged on all orders to cover the costs of adherence to this code of practice.
